semi's and gardens

I think I will FINALLY be caught up on blogging after this post. I'm doing 2 in 1 this time!

First I will start with last Thursday. It was a bad day. On my way to work I got CLIPPED by a semi truck! Well it was more of a "large load" type truck thing.

Here's what happened! I was going to turn right. The truck was in the STRAIGHT lane but decided to turn right and BAM! He got the me! It was bad news! I was kind of freaking out. I wasn't sure what to do so I called Daren. Daren and Jeremy came down to comfort me. The police arrived....and so did a "witness" who I swear was on a power trip! UGH! She told the police that "it was obvious he was going to turn." I was like, if it was obvious WHY WOULD I TRY AND TURN TOO?!?! I was REALLY annoyed! Plus the driver of the other truck was HAPPY and acting like it just made his day. SO ANNOYING! I wanted to punch him in the face! Anyways, after half an hour of the cop patting his buddies on the butt and having a social gathering, he finally got to work on the insurance papers and whatnot. An hour later I GOT THE TICKET! I got a ticket for "passing on the right"....even though I was making a right hand turn. Apparently around here large trucks can do whatever the crap they want! I was SO irritated!

We took our truck in to get fixed and it was done a few days later. I got to drive a SWEET rental for a few days which I thoroughly enjoyed. Daren and I picked the truck up and noticed the side mirror wasn't even touched! I called them and they said they didn't even know it was broken! How could you not notice the HUGE crack in the mirror?! Needless to say we are waiting for a check from State Farm so we can order one ourselves.

On a happy note: The check will be enough for us to get a mirror AND most of our deductible back. We'll only be about $20 short of our deductible. SWEET! But we still need to pay the ticket AND traffic school. I haven't called on the ticket yet...I keep putting it off....

If you want to see the pictures you'll have to look up the police report :)

Last week we were SUPER busy! We were only home one night last week and that night we planted a GARDEN! WOOT! It took forever but I am REALLY excited about it. Thankfully Daren's mom came out and helped us! We planted corn, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini.
We didn't plant the whole thing. We are sharing half of it with Daren's aunt and uncle, who also happen to be our neighbors.

Tomato plants!

This was actually taken the day AFTER we planted it. We BARELY got the garden finished before dark.

We are going to have veggies coming out of our ears! Would you like some? In 65 days you can have some! You know what they say! Sharing is caring!

P.S. We tried that new Tropical Snow snow shack the other day. This was our conclusion. They had GREAT ice, which in my opinion will either make or break the snow cone. HOWEVER! They were a little pricey for the amount of snow cone you got AND they charge TAX! Our total was $5.38. That was a first for me.

We are going to try my favorite snow cone place next! It's been in my top fav for the past 3 years!

hogle zoo

FINALLY! I'm SO behind in blogging and it's driving me nuts!! One day I will get caught up!

Last Saturday Daren and I went with his family to Hogle Zoo. Our sister-in-law, Susi, wanted to go for her birthday so we went! It was SO fun! Susi and myself channeled our inner child and had a great time! Poor Daren! He was probably so sick of us by the end of the night!

We had breakfast at Daren's parents house in the morning, stopped at Krispy Kreme on the way down, and arrived at the zoo around 11...I think.

I can't remember the last time I went to the zoo. It's been like 15 years and everything is SO different! I didn't think it would take us all day but sure enough, IT DID! And we didn't even see everything! BUT! You know what we did see?! A TON of prego ladies! Seriously every other person was prego with an eggo. It was insane!

There are a lot of pictures so just prepare yourself...

I remembered this lion from my childhood.

My chunky monkey! Kayzen...not Lornel! HA!

I LOVE his eyes!

We were REALLY excited to ride the carousel! For reals! And they went up and down!

I had to CLIMB up this rhino! Half of it was BURNING hot and the other wasn't. It made it very difficult to stay on.

I think zebras are rad.

We found these ideal rocking chairs at the end of the day.

A TRAIN RIDE to end the day!

On our way back to Logan we stopped at Tai Pan and got a few ideal items. I sure do love that store!

It was a really fun day! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSI! Even though it's been like a week....

snow cones!

Tonight Daren and I got our FIRST SNOW CONES OF THE YEAR!!

This is my favorite time of year! I LOVE snow cones and there are several snow shacks around us.

On Sunday we drove by a new that was up and there a huge sign that said FREE SNOW CONES ON MONDAY! I was so excited. I shouted and did a fist pump!

Tonight we pulled up to a long line of snow cone lovers. We had to wait about 30 minutes but it was SO worth it! I always say food is better when it's free, and that does not exclude snow cones! They were DELISH!

We plan on trying every snow shack in town before the end of the summer. There is a new one called 'Tropical Snow.' It looks so ideal. Everyone should hop on the snow cone train! WOOT!

P.S. We were driving home tonight and the song "Best of Intentions" came on. Daren looked down at the radio and said, "Wait a minute this song isn't Best of Intentio", it's "Best of Intentions." He said Intentio like it was Spanish or something. It was SO FUNNY! He pulled an Ashlee!! I love my husband!!

P.P.S. I'm really behind in my blogging. You all should look forward to posts about Hogle Zoo and a large load truck hitting me. Good times....minus the good. Hopefully sometime this week. We are SUPER busy these days...

happy mama's day!

This weekend Daren and I spent Saturday down in Salt Lake with my mama. She had to work in the morning so we didn't get down there until about 1:30 in the afternoon. I told her I wanted to do whatever she was doing. SO....we went grocery shopping with her and my dad! HA! It was actually really fun. My parents are GREAT! After grocery shopping we hung out around the house and then went to dinner at Market Street Grill with the family. We a good time and LOTS of laughs! Jace and I started talking about all the things we did in high school that we didn't tell my parents. It was pretty entertaining. Jace had WAY more stories than I did...If I had a dollar for every time I've heard the phrase "Don't tell mom and dad but guess what happened...." from BOTH of my brothers I would probably be a millionaire. My mom got a good laugh from everything but my dad...well he was pretty quiet. He later told us he was trying to remember everything we were telling him so he could start praying for our redemption. HA! Shane didn't have many stories to tell...probably cause they are still fresh. Give him a couple years and they'll all come out! It was SO fun!

After dinner we went and visited my grandma. I tell you what, she is getting HILARIOUS in her old age. She was talking about one of her friends and I asked her if she had a crush on him. She told me she didn't want to get mixed up with a 93 year old. HA! I don't blame her though! Jace and one of his friends stopped by too and she kept calling Jace's friend his boyfriend. It was REALLY funny! Jace tried to correct her but she wouldn't have anything do with it. After visiting my grandma, Daren and I headed back up to Logan.

Sunday we got to spend the evening with Daren's mom AND Tom called! Tom is Daren's brother who is on a mission in the big VA. I didn't get to talk to him since he only had about 40 minutes but Daren did! From the sounds of it he is doing really good! Hopefully that will be the last time he gets to call home...he's coming home at the end of the year and we are hoping it's before Christmas!

We had a great weekend being with our mom's! Both of our mom's are AMAZING! Daren and I have both said numerous times that we are blessed with amazing parents AND amazing in-laws! I couldn't ask for better!

I didn't take any pictures this weekend but here are 2 from our wedding!
Me and my mom!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Birthday Baby K and more!

Yesterday was Baby's K's FIRST birthday! WOOT! I seriously LOVE this baby so much! I don't know what it is about him but I think I may be obsessed with him. He makes me want to HAVE kids....I know, right? That doesn't happen often.

We went over to Daren's parents house last night for a party and I probably took a million pictures of him eating his cake! I couldn't help it! He was SO happy! Prepare yourself....

Bear was NOT a fan of having to sit still while Kayzen ate the cake. After he was done Bear tried to hurry and eat as much as he could before it got cleaned up. MUST. EAT. CAKE! It was quite hilarious.

Kayzen didn't quite understand the whole opening presents concept. After about 2 he lost interest and little Luiz opened the rest of them.

Isn't that face so cute?! I just want to SQUISH him!

I told you here were a lot of pictures....and that I was slightly obsessed....

ANYWHO!!

On a side note. Bear doesn't have heart worms. WOOT! I know you were all worried! We had him tested, since he's never been tested before, and we are clear!

And last but CERTAINLY NOT LEAST!! After we took Bear to the vet today, Daren wanted to go to Lowe's and get my mother's day gift (yes, I am a mama to a very adorable puppy). He said there was no way to hide is from me and he needed the truck to get it home. I had NO idea what it was. When we walked into the store he made me close my eyes and he lead me through the isles. He even turned me around a few times. FINALLY we stopped and I opened my eyes and there it was! The most beautiful thing EVER! A ROCKING CHAIR!! Every time we go into Lowe's I like to go sit in them. I have LONGED for one for probably a million years! BEST. PRESENT. EVER! I was literally jumping in the store because I was so excited. True story.

I am SO excited to rock in it on our little porch!
