NO GOLD, NO GLORY

Daren and I embraced our inner high school self again this weekend. It was Cottonwood's homecoming this weekend so we went down and watched Shane play. It was a pretty boring game, even my dad thought so. By half time we were up 40-o. And that was the score at the end of the game. Yay that we won but it doesn't make for an intense game. But there were fireworks so I was pretty excited about that!

Sporting my new CHS t-shirt.

I was so surprised by how much Cottonwood has changed since I was there. I took notes on everything and here is the list I came up with.

1. There was a real mascot there! Like someone dressed up like a colt. Daren said it looked like a giraffe. In all my years of high, all 3 of them, we NEVER had a human mascot.
2. They had there HUGE flags that the cheer leaders would run down the track with every time we scored. We had nothing of the sort.

3. When we pulled in the parking lot, which to park in the good parking lot you now need a "pass"(we had one :)), there was a PEP RALLY going on. People were eating food, playing on BOUNCE HOUSES, and dancing the night away. FREAK! WHY DIDN'T WE HAVE BOUNCE HOUSES?
4. They have cool things to buy to show you Colt Pride. They have a much bigger selection of things to wear plus they had these really cute rod iron things you can put in your garden that say "Colt Pride" with a cute little logo.
5. During halftime they announced the Homecoming Royalty. P.S. All the girls were NOT cute! But they drove them around the track in cars. When I went there they had to walk down the long, steep stairs of the stadium.

Too bad I didn't go to school in the "Scott Cate" era. HA! I'm funny!

There are few things that haven't changed though. I still think we have the prettiest high school field. And the cheers. I love Colts cheers. Also, the Dance Company, or Drill Team, whatever you want to call it, still sucks!

I remember my senior year of high school we won our homecoming game...it was the first homecoming game Cottonwood had won in like a million years, okay maybe like 30. Seriously, 30 years. It was a pretty big deal.

After the game, well it had been a good 2 hours after the game, we went to dinner with my family. Daren learned where I get my dramatic side when I get hungry, from my daddy!

Saturday night was the dance and my mom volunteered to feed all 38 kids in her club house. She is a brave woman. Daren and I, unfortunately, had to leave around 11:30 Saturday morning so we couldn't stick around to see how things turned out. According to my mom, Shane, and the pictures, it looks like it turned out pretty good!

Shane and his date, Maddie.

Shane and friends. I don't really remember their names.

The GIGANTIC group.

Saturday night we took Bear to Petsmart to buy him some new chewing toys. Hopefully this will entertain him so he doesn't chew on our CHAIRS anymore! My poor yellow chairs. He seems to enjoy them, his new toys that is. One of them he had already devoured. The other one I think will take more time....

He's also learned how to get behind the curtains and look at the window. It's really funny!

These are pictures for Bear playing the canal at James and Susi's.

AND! The canyon was ever more BEAUTIFUL. I tried to take more pictures with my actual camera. It still doesn't do it justice.

Anyways. I'm bored with this post. And I need to make lunch. And clean our bedroom. Yuck.

Peace.

make me babies

First and foremost, I blame Shannon for this entire post.

Today I was IM'ing my BFF, Shannon, when she asked me if I wanted to see what her child would look like if she mated with herself. My first reaction....................yes? Then she showed me what her and John's (her husband) children would look like...yikes. Sorry guys! So then, being the curious human that I am, decided I wanted in on the fun.

This is the outcome.

The first 2 are boys...in case you couldn't tell. I changed Daren's picture on the second ones to a "more clear" picture of him.

The next ones are the girls.

This last one is probably my favorite. If Shannon and I were to have a child, this is what it would look like. Please note that is was NOT my idea. It was Shannon's.

Yikes, right?! I REALLY hope this is not what our children will look it. Those poor little spirits in heaven...

P.S. Note to self: Look into adoption.

Laundry and Cleaning Woes

I had the day off on Wednesday. (Thank heavens! I was about to lock that child in the closet and make him stay there until the turned 6...I mean...WHAT?)

Instead of being lazy and watching reality TV all day I decided to be productive by doing the laundry and cleaning the house. Well, in the midst of doing all of this a few thoughts came to my mind.

Thought number Uno: When Daren and I got back from our honeymoon one of the first things on our list was to go to Sam's Club and stock on the essentials, you know, Mac and Cheese, Top Ramen, toilet paper, and of course laundry detergent. It took a LONG time to decide on a laundry detergent, probably a good 20 minutes of my life was spent down that isle. After calling my mom, (Daren had no preference on the matter) I decided on ALL and that was that. Well over the past 4 or so months I have come to a conclusion. I CAN NEVER, EVER AGAIN GET A NON-SCENTED LAUNDRY DETERGENT! I need to be able to SMELL the cleanliness. This entire time I have seriously been lacking in the confidence of how clean our clothes are. I would try to make up for the lack of smell by putting like 2 or 3 dryer sheets but it never helped. So! What does this have to do with Wednesday? I knew that I wouldn't have enough detergent to do all of the laundry so I ran down to the local Family Dollar and picked up some more. I am happy to report that our clothes now smell like Apple Mango Tango and it is DIVINE! I swear our whites are whiter and our colors are brighter!

Thought Number Dos: Cleaning our bath/shower is NOT my favorite thing to do. During my college years I would always make Kourtney clean it. She did the tub and shower, I did the mirrors and sink. She always made it look so clean...and I have a fear a falling INTO the shower while cleaning it. I still have that fear, but I am trying to overcome it. Anyways! There has to be an EASIER way to clean a shower than what I am doing! I feel so awkward scrubbing the bottom of the tub with my BA-DONK high in the air. Any tips?!

Those are really my only thoughts from Wednesday. But I do have more to say! HA! Don't I always though!?

On Thursday we drove down to the SLC for Ally's wedding! Oh my land! She looks SO beautiful and both her and Shad look VERY happy! I am so happy for them and I hope they are having an EXCELLENT time in Cabo!!

We also spent some time with my family, mostly my parentals, since Jace and Shane are ALWAYS busy doing something else! We had a good time, even with my dad posing a deep, look inside your soul and tell me what you think type of question to Daren. It was a great little mini vacation for us, even if it was just for a few hours.

The canyon on the way down was BEAUTIFUL! I tried to take pictures with my phone (and drive at the same time) but it does NOT do it justice. Hopefully I can get some with my real camera this year.

I may have "enhanced the pictures a little bit on my computer...maybe.

Yesterday at school we had our first assembly! It was AWESOME! I guess there is some group calling Rolling Thunder...or maybe the school made that up. I don't know but they had this motorcycle gang, well it probably wasn't a REAL gang, but you get it. There were like 20 bikers and they came and talked to all the students. I'm not sure what the point of it was but it was pretty cool!
This was my favorite bike.

Well that is all for now! Tonight we are going to a Meet and Greet thing for our new ward. I'm pretty excited about it! I don't think Daren is though...but he agreed to come with me! FREE FOOD! WOOT! WOOT!

weekend fun and decor

This weekend I abandoned my hubby and puppy and went to Salt Lake Friday and Saturday.

Friday night my BFF'S and I threw a ROCKIN' bachelorette party for Ally! We had delicious food, fun games, and LOTS of laughs! After eating, playing, and opening some SWEET presents, a few of us went out and saw "The House Bunny." It was SO HILARIOUS! The whole night was SO fun! I love Ally and I am SO SO happy for her! She is SO amazing and she is married an AWESOME guy! They are getting married on Thursday and I CAN'T wait!
Special shout out to my mom for letting us have it in her backyard and for helping so much! Especially for her red pitcher for the forks! HA!
The beautiful bride...with lots of mallo's in her mouth!

BFF'S!!

More BFF'S!!

On Saturday I hung around with my family for a good portion of the day. I love my family so it's always a good time! My mom and I went to look at the family pictures we taken a few weeks ago with my dad's side of the family. The selection to choose from wasn't that big but there were some good pictures! I got back to Logan around 4, unpacked, laid down to rest for a minute, and then did some re-arranging on our walls and outside. That night we had James and Susi over for dinner and a movie, Baby Mama, also hilarious!

This is the picture we choose from the family pictures. It's a picture of a picture so please don't mind the quality. I think it is PRETTY ADORABLE! I can't wait to get the real thing!

My mom gave me this for my birthday and now I feel like I can put it up! I'm so excited to decorate for fall! Now I just have to go and buy stuff to decorate with!

We got this star right after we got married and we just BARELY put it up this weekend. When I was at Home Depot with my mama I asked a man what I should hang it with and he lead me in the right direction! Thanks husband for hanging it! I think it looks so cute!

My mom got me with for my birthday too and I am now just getting around to hang it up. Thanks again husband! You're the best! Oh and please don't mind the empty picture frames. I still haven't decided what pictures I'm going to put in them.

Basically this post is boring. I just wanted to post the pictures! Woot!

My Wife Rocks!

I would like to post a blog. I would like everyone to know that my wife is awesome! Here are the reasons why, just from today.
1. She got me a new battery for my phone today. My battery is fried, and she got me a new one.
2. She blogs for us! I mean, all my friends can know what's going on in my life and I don't have to lift a finger.
3. Every night, around 9PM, she reminds me to get online and play Halo with Jeremy and James. She doesn't get upset, she reminds me!
4. She takes care of our puppy when he and I aren't seeing eye to eye. Bear ran off to investigate the neighbors dogs again this morning and after I got him back in the house I wouldn't talk to him. She texted me around 9AM to let me know that Bear was sorry and that he loves me. How sweet is that?!
5. She works one on one with a child who is deaf and blind. I don't have the required abilities to handle my dog when he is not obeying, and she not only takes care of him but a child who can't see or hear her. She has a specail calling in life to do what she does.
6. Despite everything that I am not, she accepts me and continues to love me unconditionally. What more could a guy ask for?
That's just a couple of things. There are many more. I love you Baby and I just want everyone to know a few of the reasons why!

PS- The picture is of my Spartan character I play online. It is my sort of signature. If you see it, I posted something.

recent happenings...

...not a lot has been happening lately. My little man at school was sick all of last week so i spent a lot of time with my boss...

We've also been watching a lot of The Office. If you remember, Daren got me Season 4 for my birthday and it came out this week. I think we have already watched the entire season one and a half times. LOVE IT! I can't wait for the new season to start this month!

Here are a few pictures from the week...mostly this weekend.

Friday, Daren and I went on a date to Chili's. I colored a thing for some charity. I can't remember what it is, St. Jude's maybe? Anyways, it was a good time. We went to Cold Stone after for some ice cream. They have NUTTER BUTTER ice cream. It is SO good! Plus on the 25th of September from 5-8 they are giving away free ice cream for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. GO!

Saturday our peeps, Jody and Lacey, came over and we had breakfast for dinner. I made Cinnamon Pull-A-Parts and they were pretty tasty! I think I cooked them a few minutes longer than I should have. SO easy though! Thanks to my Aunt Marcia for the recipe!

We had Sunday dinner at James and Susi's last night. They have a canal behind their backyard. I took Bear out to see if he would get in the water and play. HE DID! Before he would just crawl down to the very edge but last night he got all the way in and LOVED IT! He was running up and down and up and down! He had a blast. Anywho! Makayla and Luiz decided they wanted to get in and play. They told their mom they only wanted to put their feet in. YEAH RIGHT! Eventually they were both completely wet. The only clothes their mom had in the car were girl clothes so little Luiz wore girl clothes the rest of the night. It was pretty entertaining. Those jeans have jewels on the butt. The "shirt" is a scarf and he didn't wear that very long. He seemed to be quite comfortable and enjoyed wearing girl clothes. Kind of alarming..but HILARIOUS! Look how happy he is in the picture!

The other day I was leaving the house and this was the face Bear gave me. Isn't that so sad?! I have to look at this face every time I go to work. Early this week I wanted to strangle him. Lately he's had some sort of fascination with my shoes and DESTROYING them! So we have just decided to lock him out of our room and the bathroom, which is a big deal to him because he loves to sleep on our bed. Oh well! Since then he hasn't destroyed anything and the house has been kept clean. We think he is entering his "Terrible Two" stage of life. I think having a dog is good practice for us, at least me. If I have children today I would probably CONDITIONALLY love them..I do with Bear right now. I should learn to love UNCONDITIONALLY before I have little ones running around.

Speaking of little ones. I had the most awful dream the other night. I dreamt that Daren and I had a child, a little boy (and he was pretty adorable looking.) I went to pick up the child because he was crying and he wouldn't come to me. It was like I was a stranger or something. I remember I was crying because he didn't know who I am. He was like 2 in the dream so chances are he should have known I was his mama. I'm still kind of traumatized by it actually.

Also I had a dream last night that one of my friends, Steve, sent me this HUGE and THICK calender and every month it was him confessing his love to me in a different way. It was really odd. In real life Steve is gay and I can't picture him sending "love calenders" out to anyone, girl or guy.

I wonder what I eat at night to cause since bizarre dreams.

On the agenda tonight? Dinner and "What Happens in Vegas." We've already seen it and it was pretty funny so I'm excited to watch it again! I love free Redbox Mondays!

corn, corn, corn

As I mentioned in my previous blog, yesterday we were suppose to be finishing the garage. I think it's safe to say we didn't. Daren cleaned off a few shelves, we threw some carpet in the back of the truck, and that was about it. HOWEVER! We did have quite the adventure with CORN! Grandpa Don informed us that if we didn't doing anything with all his corn it was going to go bad. So off to work we went. I have NEVER seen so much corn in my entire life. Not even at those corn stands in the summer. Seriously. Hundreds and hundreds of ears of corn. We shucked, cut, and then either bottled or froze it. This was my first time partaking of this process and let me tell you, it was intense. It was fun though, despite it being freezing. It felt like the middle of October last night! It only took a couple of hours to finish this batch..I hope the next one isn't as big.

Last night I was dreaming of corn the ENTIRE night. There was so much corn and we kept pouring it in and out of bottles and nothing was getting done! Oh it was AWFUL! I tossed and turned all night. True story.

Cutting the corn. Electric knifes are AWESOME! It inspired me to break the one we got for our wedding out!

This is probably only 1/5 of the amount of corn we had. For reals people.

Look how "happy"....and homeless my cute husband looks?!

All of bags of corn ready to freeze...plus we had 18 regular sized jars and 4 LARGE jars of it.

We came home with this much corn.

Basically if you need corn, I think I know where you can get some.
