these are always my favorite!
i completely forgot to share this awkward story! it's a good one!
last sunday daren and i were at church, naturally. after sacrament we ran into his aunt and uncle so we stopped to chat with them for a minute. as we were talking our bishop came up and said, "do they grow tibbitts boys any shorter?" or something like that.
daren is 6'7" and his uncle is a little bit shorter than him. basically the shortest man in the family is 6'1".
anyways. we were talking about how tall everyone was and blah, blah, blah. then our bishop, who might i add i've only talked to probably 4 times since we moved into the ward ONE month ago, turned to me and said and i quote, "man i feel bad for your birth canal."
what the!?! are you kidding me? did the bishop that i don't even know just say that to me? how do you reply to that? i didn't know what to say so i just awkwardly smiled and laughed.
never again will the topic of height be brought up around my bishop.

wedding announcements
we currently have 5 wedding announcements on our fridge. 5!
all of them occur between august 1st and august 16th.
none of them are on the same day.
none of them are on 08.08.08. thank heavens! i'm looking forward to watching the opening ceremonies of the olympics.
the locations of the weddings vary from salt lake to hyde park to smoot, wyoming. yes, smoot. i don't even know where that is.
4 of 5 announcements are cute. the one we got yesterday is...special. the back is modern but the front looks like it is from the 1970's.
tis the season i guess!
happy weddings!

What a CRAZY weekend....
....and it's not even over with yet!
Friday night Daren, myself, and the puppy went out to Hyde Park for their 24th of July fireworks. I don't know what it is about Cache Valley doing things so early! We had a great time hanging out with family and friends. Bear was WILD! All new territory and lots of people make for a VERY hyper dog. Once the fireworks started he was calm. Can you guess why?! He did pretty good during the fireworks. He started off in my lap and then decided the fireworks were too close for comfort and he PRIED himself between Daren and I. He cuddled with Daren the rest of the time. It was quite adorable.
When we got to the park I realized my camera batteries were DEAD! So all the pictures are from my phone.
Bear has a glow stick around his neck. It was nearly impossible for him to sit still for a picture. I take that back, it was IMPOSSIBLE.
Who knew my phone took such great pictures of fireworks?!
Bear would not leave Daren's side after the fireworks, hence the picture of Bear between Daren's legs.
Saturday Daren and I got up bright an early..well for a Saturday. We got ready and headed over to Daren's parents house and started loading up his truck. POR QUE?! We were about to begin an adventure! Cooking a dutch oven dinner for 150 people! Woot!
My mom is the Activities Chairman person for her ward and she asked Daren's dad if he would do the cooking for it. Daren and I, along with James, Susi, and Andy volunteered to go down and help. It was a long, HOT day but everything turned out SO good! We had a ton of compliments on the food and of course the party was awesome! It was a Western/Cowboy themed party. My mom ALWAYS throws the best parties! That's probably why she has had that calling for the past 3 million years. We fixed, well I guess I can't take credit for because I didn't cook a darn thing! Susi and I did venture over to Target for some shopping while the boys started! Lornel, Daren, James, and Andy made ribs, chicken, and potatoes. James and Susi finished the evening with some peach cobbler! So yummy! After dinner there was a children's parade and then games, which included a Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, a Lasso Contest, and a tractor ride. Daren made the comment on our way home last night that it doesn't matter what you are doing it is always fun when you are around your family and this time we were with BOTH of our families! We loved every minute of it!
Here are a few pictures from the day..Daren covered in chicken goop.
The set-up and the crew.
This is pretty much what I did all day.
We are just too cute!
Lasso anyone? Not me...the saddle please.
My cute brothers and I. Look how skinny they both are. Where did I go wrong? I guess if I played baseball every day and hiked mountains in Guat for 2 years I might look like that. EH!
My cute mama and I!
You can't forget about dad!
Finally! We're done! PS! What is going on with my pants?
Today will be relaxing which is just what we need!

happy friday thoughts!
Just a few stories I'd like to share on this glorious Friday!
Yesterday Bear and I were early picking up Daren from work and then we found out he had a last minute meeting after work. Needless to say, we had some time to kill. I took Bear over to some near by grass and let him run around on it. Sometimes when Bear getting really hyper he starts violently ripping grass up. I don't know why but he does. Usually we make him stop because we don't want huge holes in our lawn but yesterday when he started doing it I didn't stop him. Not only was it not our grass but it was the Axtell's grass and Daren and I have both been VERY unhappy with them recently SO I let him go to town. It was actually quite entertaining. I snapped a few photos with my phone.
Digging away!
Ripping up the grass!
He was laying down AND digging! What a talented little puppy!
Look how big his nose looks in this picture!
After about 20 minutes this what the hole looked like. He eventually got bored and found something else to play with.
By the time Daren was done with his meeting Bear and myself were filthy. This is the second time in a row wearing those jeans where Bear has gotten them completely dirty. Both times with dirt and mud.
One of the many, many things I love about Daren is his ability to cook. He is such an amazing cook! He can take something so ordinary, like mac and cheese, and make it so delish! He makes the BEST mac and cheese! Anyways, the other night he made the most delicious meal! It was Caribbean Jerk steak and pineapple rice with fresh mango salsa. Holy crap! It was so good!
I've recently discovered that I LOVE doing the dishes with Daren. For one, it only takes half as long and two we make it fun! Don't get me wrong though, I will be VERY happy when our dishwasher gets hooked up and running...hopefully soon!
I seem to have a lot of husband stories today. Deal with it! I can't help it he is so dang cute and SO funny! Oh he makes me laugh all the time!
The other day I washed our sheets and pillow cases. If you refer to my last blog you will understand why. Anywho! I had a blond moment and completely forgot to start the dryer so we had to pull out some old sheets and use them. As we were putting on pillow cases Daren asked which pillow was his and my reply was "I don't know. Aren't they the exact same pillow?" (They are). At this point I think I saw a little fear in his eye. He didn't know which pillow he had been sleeping on for the last month and a half. He then proceeded to SMELL and HUG the pillow trying to decide which was his. He finally decided on a pillow because it "felt right."
On a side note: before we got new pillows for our wedding Daren had been sleeping with the same pillow for YEARS! He takes it EVERYWHERE! He's so attached to it that even cuddles with it at night, kind of like a teddy bear. It's actually really cute.
The same night as the pillow incident Daren informed me he had a splinter is his foot. I was trying to get it out for him and caused some damage that needed a band aid. I went to the first aid kit and grabbed a band aid. Before I put it on he asked if it was a fabric or plastic one. I didn't know. It's just a band aid. Come to find out Daren does NOT like the way plastic band aids feel (to his dismay that is what he got). What a weirdo, but I love him! We still don't know where the splinter came from.
And my final Daren story of the day. The other day I asked Daren how he had slept the night before, like I usually do. He said "okay." I like to hear answers like, "great" or "awesome" so when I hear an "okay" I know he didn't sleep good. I asked him why and one of his responses was, "Because I didn't know if the bed had been made yesterday." I got into bed before him that night so he couldn't physically see the bed made. He likes his bed to be made every day. He'll even make it and then get in it. He is crazy. FYI: the bed had NOT been made that day.
Was anyone else SHOCKED by the results of So You Think You Can Dance last night? I was.
I think this is the end of my long post for the day. Happy Friday!

play time in the ditch!
Yesterday I was outside playing with Bear and I noticed that my cuticles were looking a little shabby. So I went inside for literally 4 seconds to grab my cuticle clippers, which were in my purse which was by the front door. When I came back I couldn't find Bear. I called for him, nothing. Across the street there is a little field thing he likes to play in, I looked there, nothing. I start walking around to the backyard and I see him!
On the edge of our property there is a little ditch. It's mainly used for people to irrigate their lawn with. Every now and again the gates will open and there will be water running down it. Sure enough yesterday there was water flowing in it and my dog was right in the middle of it.
I looked over to see Bear running up and down the ditch at FULL speed! He would run on the grass and then LEAP into the water and run and then get back out. It was so hilarious! He was having a such a good time! He just kept running and running for probably half an hour straight, which is a long time for our dog!
Then we decided we should give him a bath while he's all wet.
As soon as Daren finished bathing him what did he do? Oh he IMMEDIATELY starting rolling around in the grass and leaves and dirt. I think Bear knew he was clean and to him that is unacceptable. He's a boy. Go figure.
After his bath he didn't really want to get back in the water. I wonder why?!
I'm still trying to figure out why he so willingly played in the this water but he didn't like the lake. Maybe he's warming up to the idea of water.
We love our puppy.

Free slurpee day...
...was SO disappointing!!
Daren got off work early today. On our way home we decided to stop at the local 7-11 and participate in Free Slurpee Day. As well pulled up there were signs all over the doors and inside the store saying they ran out of free slurpee cups! I didn't believe my eyes. We went in hoping they would offer some sort of discount to all of us less fortunate who didn't get a free slurpee. NOTHING! But now my taste buds were craving a slurpee so Daren and I went ahead and spent our own $2.75 on slurpees. I asked the guy when they ran out of slurpees and he said 2 hours ago. Who runs out of free slurpee cups at 3 in the afternoon?!
All of my hopes and dreams were shattered. Now I have to wait another 365 days for July 11th to come around again. Next year we are going early, at 12:01 am.
July 11th was probably one of my favorite days of the year..until this year. Now it's down there with Arbor Day and Mexico's Independence Day.

Us
By the who! I was totally right about Thayne and Comfort. Good bye.

pay it forward.
i had a great act of service done to me yesterday. after i picked daren up from work we were going to stop by his parents and drop off a saw. i realized yesterday that we also had a wagon thing that belonged to them. i decided i would load it in the back of the truck and drop it off as well. little did i know that it was a HEAVY duty wagon. bear and i decided there was no way i was going to be able to lift it up. just when i was about to put the wagon back in the backyard a couple of teenage guys jumped out of their car and helped me put it in. not only did they get it in the back but they also secured it so it wouldn't roll around while i drove. what a dream they were! i was so grateful. now i am going to pay it forward...that is a great movie.
in other news...
i love my husband.
my chesticle look for sad right now. tanning oil=bad idea. never again.
apparently my dog can sleep anywhere.
i think thayne and comfort are going home tonight on so you think you can dance. which is kind of unfortunate because i really like thayne...maybe he'll stay...
time to fold the laundry. maybe i'll turn on some jazzy tunes.
much love.

4th of July weekend!
The 4th of July is my favorite holiday! I LOVE fireworks! I think they are so magical!
This weekend was VERY eventful and SO fun! We started off the long weekend by going to a BBQ at James and Susi's on Thursday. Logan always does their fireworks the day before the actual holiday. I still don't know why but whatev. The BBQ was way fun and of course we did our own illegal fireworks before the big ones. We had a great view of the fireworks from the front yard of the house! This moment of the night might have been my favorite. Luiz was playing with one of his trucks and little Willow came up, took the truck away from him and then half hugged, half tackled him...for no apparent reason. Then she sat on him like this for like 5 minutes and then started laughing. It was so funny! She was so calm during this whole process. Oh she is so adorable!
Poor Bear. This weekend was full of firsts for him. This was his first 4th of July. I don't think he was very into all the loud noises. Every year Daren's side of the family has a "Pop-Its" fight. Well this year Daren and I weren't thinking ahead and both wore nice shirts that we didn't want to get ruined so we went inside during the fight. A few minutes after being inside we decided we should probably go get Bear. Well I went out back to find him and I couldn't see him. Kind of freaked out. Panic mode set in. Someone told Daren that Bear was missing and he went running down the street thinking he ran away. Turns out he was hiding under Daren's mom's chair. I went over and picked him up and he hung on to me for dear life walking back inside. Then when we started the illegal fireworks he just hid under Daren's chair. Every now and again he would pop his head out to see what was going on. (That's what his picture is of.) During the big fireworks he just laid on my lap. He was actually quite calm during those ones.
The next day, the actual holiday, we got to sleep in a little. YAY! We love sleeping in! That morning we went and saw HANCOCK with James and Susi. SO hilarious! We loved it! The rest of the day was spent relaxing. We got the boat up and running! DOUBLE YAY! That night Daren and I watched Drillbit Taylor, also hilarious!
Saturday we got up earlier than I wanted to..but it was for a good cause! We were going boating! We got everything ready and headed out to Hyrum Dam with James, Susi, and Brandon...and the 2 dogs! I was so nervous about Bear getting in the water. I didn't want him to drown. We got out on the lake and I could tell Bear was a little skeptical. He laid in my lap, sometimes he would put his head up on the edge of the boat. The first time he got in, he slipped off the back and fell in. It was funny but kind of sad. He swam right to Daren and held on. I don't think he liked it...He got back in and would not leave my side.
He might have gotten sea sick...or it could have been part of the donut I fed him that morning but he threw up twice. Sick. The first time Susi picked it up with her hands and threw it in the lake. She's the woman. Don't worry we had soap for her to wash her hands off with. The second time I got start and hung his head over the edge. That was in the first 20 minutes or so and he was fine after that. He got back in the water a little bit later and I think he was a little bit better. He willingly got in that time...kind of. You could tell he wanted to come to us in the water but just wasn't sure about it. He eventually just took the plunge.
ANYWAYS! The day was so fun! I love being on the boat! It's so relaxing and it wasn't busy at all which is always a plus! Of course Susi and I got WAY sunburned! Stupid tanning oil! Daren has been taking care of me since then. He's such a great husband!
Saturday night we went to the Cruise-In parade. There were a lot of cool cars in it but then there were some that were lame! Like normal cars. It's a CLASSIC car show people! My lovely parents came up and watched the parade with us and then the 4 of us went to dinner at Cafe Sabor. Yummy! It's always good to see my parents. Thanks for the visit parentals!
All in all it was a very fun weekend. I just hope Bear doesn't resent us later in his life for making him try scary things. So far it seems he still loves us!
By the who! We're private now! I think...pretty sure of it!
