nascar!

Hello my pretties!!!

We are back from Vegas and we had a crazy good time!! It was such a fun weekend! We are sad to be back...but such is life!

First of all, our hotel was AMAZING! We were not expecting it to be so nice! I seriously could have stayed in the hotel room all weekend! We stayed at The Palms Place. The service was outstanding! Plus, the casino was on a totally different level of the hotel so the lobby and rooms didn't really smell like a casino. It was awesome!

Let me back up....we left Thursday morning. And I tell you what, it was a LONG day. We picked up our rental around 8:30. As we were heading out to the canyon we discovered our car didn't have a 4th or 5th gear. So we had to go back to the rental place. They put us in a big old truck. Mind you, it was snowing and we didn't want our luggage in the bed going on I-15. So there were 4 adults and a crap load of luggage in this truck. Anywho, we drove the truck to Layton where we picked up another rental...one that was more roomy. Then we stopped in SLC to go to the craft store, and then we stopped in Provo for lunch. I swear it was 2:00pm before we were actually headed to Vegas. It was like we were a bunch of kids! It was fun though so no complaints here!

Back to the trip...

Friday we had breakfast at the super awesome, super cheap buffet in our hotel. After, Susi and I went to get pedicures. Best pedicures EVER! Loved it so much! The only picture I took was of this candelier. They have these at each of the stations. I want one.

After pedicures, we spent some time in the hot tub...it was awesome. That is, until a wicked storm blew in! It was all rainy and windy! It even knocked out the power at some of the hotels! But that didn't stop us from having fun! We went to the wax museum and did some shopping at the M&M store and Coke a Cola store.

As I mentioned, it rained and stormed. Turns out, my shoes aren't good for those weather conditions. They were so wet...so while everyone waited in line, I decided to use the heaters at the wax museum to dry my shoes. And I do have to say, my little feet were quite toasty.

Before we left for Vegas, we decided we wanted to look up some Diner's, Drive Ins, and Dives restaurants. We found a couple but decided to try 2 of them. One of them was a BBQ meat place and the other a pizza point. Well...Friday night we ventured out of the BBQ meat. Let's just say it wasn't exactly a restaurant...It was literally a meat packing plant that served some cafeteria style food. AND! When we got there, they were actually closed but they let us get food anyways. It was so funny!! We were a little frightened by the looks of the place. It was dark and no cars around. It looked like a scene from a horror movie. We couldn't even see the door to it! We had to have one of workers stick their head out! Because it wasn't an actual restaurant they didn't have any indoor seating...so we ate outside...in the dark...and in the rain. Oh it was a good time! We just couldn't help but laugh! The food was delish! And the portions were HUGE! Seriously, my meat could have fed all of us.

Across the street from our hotel was an indoor go-kart racing place. After dinner at the meat packing plant we headed over there to check it out. They were electric go-karts that went up to 45 mph. It was super fun! I came in last....but I was out for a leisurely Sunday stroll anyways...ha!

Saturday was RACE DAY!! We were all so excited! I was a little nervous. Big events always make me a little anxious. But I was sure excited to get my redneck on!!

It only took us about an hour to get back to our hotel room but I thought was quite swell. Once we got back and freshened up we headed to our next dinner adventure. This time we only had to travel down the block and it was an actual restaurant! The service was terrible, I swear there was only one waiter in the entire place. But the food was fantastic! We ordered so much food! YUMMO!! These fries are called "Suicide Fries" and HOLY MOLY! They were HOT! Those are all kind of peppers on them! Poor Daren got some hot stuff up his nose! It burned all night!

After dinner our intention was to gamble a little and get some frozen yogurt in the hotel. Needless to say, we just gambled. We were WAY too full for fro-yo! Here are the last of the pictures...some more from the race and some good old random ones!

Sunday we drove home...much faster than it took to get there. Nothing too exciting. It's always exhausting to drive that long....

It was such a GREAT weekend! Warm and sunny and with our family! LOVES IT!
