daddy-o!

Yesterday afternoon Daren and I took a QUICK trip down to Salt Lake. I think we spent more time driving than actually being down there. BUT! It was SO worth it!

My dad was sustained and set apart as 1ST COUNSELOR IN THE BISHOPRIC in his ward. It was such a great experience to be apart of it and the spirit was SO strong. He was also set apart as a High Priest, which his dad did, and then gave him a beautiful blessing! Of course my mom and I cried the entire time.

We always love spending time with my family! We were sad to have to leave so quick but we were having dinner at our house.

We were also supposed to teach our first Sunday School lesson...darn....

Can you imagine what can happen in 5 years?! Let me tell you. I'm sure my parents will be grandparents. I'm sure Jace will be married and maybe have a child. Shane will be on a mission...no wait! Shane will probably be HOME from his mission, or REALLY close to it! Isn't that WILD?!

I love my daddy and I am SO proud of him! He is going to be so AWESOME and I'm so excited to see what the next 5 years will bring for him and my mama.

I'm a daddy's girl. :)

oh dear...

I've had pretty much the entire week off and I really haven't done anything. Today I thought I would be productive. So I cleaned up the house, did the dishes, took all the sheets and pillow cases off so I could wash them along with the laundry...that is about where it stopped.

Let me give you a pre-story to my story. Our washer has been "leaking" for probably 2 months now. We don't know where it is coming from and it just kept getting worse. I was really close to buying some rain boots so I could wear them when I did the laundry, but I refrained. The other night Daren's dad and grandpa came over to take a looksie. They cleared out the pipes, thinking maybe they are clogged and that's why water goes everywhere. They started a fake load of laundry and it didn't leak. Problem solved? OH SURE!

Well today I went down and started the first load, there was some water but it was the normal amount. I guess unclogging the drain didn't fix it. Eh! In goes my second load. I come back down about an hour later to switch it and there was WAY more water than usual! We have some boxes of useless stuff in another room and the water was like 2 feet away from it. YIKES! NOT GOOD! I called Daren before I started another load. He said to wait until he got home to look at it. Luckily it was really slow at work so he came home about 2 hours later and brought Jeremy and Jody with him. They go down, they look at it, they start a "fake" load and they can't see anything. We decided to start another load of real laundry and see what happens. After about 10 minutes Jeremy goes downstairs and yells up for Daren. This can't be good. The boys go down and there is WAY WAY more water. I went down a few minutes after the boys and they are trying to SWEEP the water away. I feel like our basement is flooding. Obviously something is SERIOUSLY wrong!

We still don't know what is wrong. Daren and Jer are going to have to take the entire machine apart tomorrow....and I still have 3 loads of laundry to do. YIKES!

You can't really tell but all that dark brown is water.

See those boxes in the corner? See all the water? That isn't good. Luckily the ones that are really getting wet are in plastic things. That's probably a good inch of water...maybe even more.

An up close picture of the water.

BAD NEWS BEARS!

P.S. Daren had the rest of afternoon off. What is he doing? Playing video games with his friends. Awesome. NOT!

picnics and puppies

Since I have had most of the week off I decided to pack a picnic for Daren, myself, and the puppy. Bear and I got everything ready, we went and picked up Daren at work, and then headed over to this church that has a HUGE lawn area. It was such a beautiful day and it was so nice to spend it with my hubby and puppy. We had lunch and then Daren and Bear played on the lawn with some new toys. Bear was running around like a crazy person the entire time. It was so cute! He was so happy!

I was excited to finally use my picnic basket!

I love this picture!

That WAS my coke!

After lunch we went over to Petsmart and bought Bear a few frisbee's (Daren wants to teach him how to catch them) and these collapsible travel bowl things for food and water (We realized at the park that we didn't have any water for Bear and he was probably pretty thirsty.)

On the way back home Bear fell asleep in the car for a few minutes. It was really cute. I wish I would have taken a picture.

Last night we went over to the Anniversary Inn's Grand Opening event. They have 9 new suites and they were SO AWESOME! I've never been in any of the rooms, I've only seen pictures and it does NOT do it justice. I was so impressed! After going through the rooms we waited in line for 15 minutes for a free hot dog and coke. Daren didn't want to wait but they smelled SO good and food ALWAYS tastes better when it's FREE! I was right, they were SO good. Plus, we saw Daren's aunt and uncle and got to chat with them for a few minutes.

This is the bed in the "Drive In" room. It's in the back of a REAL truck! It was SO cool! There was a HUGE movie screen in front of it...or would you say it was behind? It doesn't matter! It was definitely one of my favs, along with the African Safari one! I was listening to some guy behind us in the hot dog line talk about how they got the truck in there. He said they put it in before they even built the walls for it! SWEET!

Lately Daren has been teaching Bear how to retrieve things. He has this toy thing that is used for the training. I think eventually Daren wants him to retrieve dead animals...even though he doesn't hunt...ANYWAYS! Bear is SO GOOD at it! He really is a smart dog...most of the time. We decided that he IS BOOK SMART but NOT STREET SMART.

The other night he was practicing this memory exercise where he would take Bear and the toy to some place and put the toy down and then walk back to where they started and then Bear would have to go find it..you know, to see if he can remember where it was. He got it every time! I was so proud!

We really love our dog...like a lot! It's probably illegal to love an animal as much as we do!

P.S. I'm REALLY excited for The Office tonight! WOOT!

football, another wedding, new callings, and snow

Good morning fellow bloggers! I hope everyone had a DELIGHTFUL weekend. Mine sure was...for the most part that is.

Daren and I, along with James and Susi, headed down to Salt Lake Friday evening after everyone got off work. We got there just in time to catch the last half of Shane's football game. This was probably one of their toughest games. They played East and East, like Cottonwood, was undefeated going into the game. NOT ANYMORE! WE WON! This win pretty much guaranteed the Region Championship for Cottonwood. I'm so proud of Shane! He played great. My only regret is that Zac Efron wasn't there..you know, since we played East High? HA! I'm funny!

After the game we went to Walmart and then to eat at DEL TACO with my fam! One of my favs! OH! I forgot to mention that as we were walking out to our car after the game I found $15! SAWEET! It was probably some high school kids lunch money for the week. SUCKER! It bought mine and Daren's dinner!

Saturday morning we had to be at the temple bright and early, well by 9:10, for a wedding. Yes another wedding. Daren's cousin, Jonathon, got married. The ceremony was really nice. I had never been to a sealing in the Salt Lake temple. It was BEAUTIFUL! When we got out it was raining/snowing. It was SO COLD! Daren and James went and got an umbrella from the car while we waited for the bride and groom to come out. Susi and I took a lot of pictures of ourselves. We were bored. I felt so bad for the bride, not only was it really crappy weather for her pictures but she didn't have a coat! Once we took the family pictures we headed over to the JSMB for shelter. We hung out and waited for the luncheon, which was DELISH!

I was using my scarf as an umbrella. Daren said I looked like a Muslim, so I now call that scarf my Muslim scarf. Wrong? Probably.

Don't we look like sister missionaries?

The bride and groom. That is really awful picture. It's blurry and her eyes are closed...it's the only one I have though.

It was right before the luncheon when Daren and James started getting REALLY grumpy. They were ready to go home. It was annoying...love you babe! Between the luncheon and reception, Susi and I left them at my parent's house to pout and we went shopping.

These are my new shoes. Cute, yeah? I like them. They make noise when I walk. Not ideal for cold, rainy weather.

The reception was clear out in the middle of China. It was actually right by USANA. It was pretty though. We didn't stay long, therefore I didn't get any pictures.

Daren and I got new callings on Sunday. We will now be tag teaming the 13 and 14 year old SUNDAY SCHOOL class. YIKES! We decided that it was KARMA! Last night we were talking about how we were SO AWFUL to our teachers at that age. I guess it's payback time. My mom told me to just bring food every week to keep them quiet. I'm hoping they will be scared of Daren so they'll be on their best behavior. We'll see how it goes. We're suppose to teach on Sunday. Wish us luck!

This is what I found when I left for work on Monday morning. BOO!

I don't have to be back to work until Monday! HOLLA!

attached

I never thought I was attached to the little man I work with. I always had the "It's my job and that's were it ends" attitude...until today.

I thought he was going to die. For reals.

A nurse always comes to school with him, just in case something happens. Every hour or so she checks his stats, which includes his heart rate and the amount of oxygen he is getting on his own. Today she checked them and his oxygen was at 65, normally it is 95. Bad sign. His heart rate was at 180, it should be around 120. Double bad sign. The nurse grabs his oxygen tank and puts it on him. He was back up to normal within a few minutes. Yikes. That was scary. I have never seen a nurse use his oxygen tank, mostly because he has never needed it.

We called his mom and she didn't seem to concerned about it. He seemed to be doing fine. We went on with our day and he was working extra hard. It was great!

Around 2:30, an hour before school gets out, his stats get low again. The nurse pulls out the tank and cranks it up to as high as it can go. They aren't getting any better. They were steady 70's for a good half an hour. What do we do? The real teacher is out on maternity leave so her aides are in charge and have no idea what to do. The nurse gives us 3 options: an oxygen mask, a bigger oxygen tank, or an ambulance. The aides are running around trying to 2 of 3 things, a mask or tank. The school doesn't have either. By this time we have the principal, the school nurse, and a few other people in the classroom. Of course his mom doesn't answer the phone so we keep trying. We decide to call for an ambulance. The school nurse hands the phone over to our nurse to talk to the dispatcher. While talking to the dispatcher his stats start to come up and are somewhat stable so we send the ambulance back.

We got a hold of his mom and the district nurse, both of them are on their way. By this time it's around 3:30. The nurse refuses to send him on the bus, which I completely agreed with. His mom and the district nurse arrive within minutes of each other. His poor mom. He has a 3 year old and his pregnant. I don't know how she doesn't it. She starts crying and says it's not normal so they are taking him to the doctor. His stats had been stable for about 10 minutes but he was still on the oxygen.

It was really scary. I have never been in that situation and had NO idea how to handle it. I almost lost it when I saw his mom cry but held it in...until I got in the truck. Then I lost it.

I did a little retail therapy after work which helped. My sweet, sweet husband made me dinner and bought me some delicious dessert from Sweetly Divine, a lemon bar and some creme brule. He is SO supportive of me and does whatever he can to make me feel better. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him!!

I just got a phone call from the nurse saying that everything checked out at the doctor but since they don't know what caused it they want to keep him home for a day. Thank heavens!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better and not involve ambulances.

worst hour EVER!

The 5' o clock hour today was NOT my favorite!

Let me give you a little prelude.

The fuel marker thing in the truck is going out so we never know how much gas we REALLY have. I knew that we were getting low (can you see where this is going?) but apparently we didn't any ANY gas!

On my way home from work I thought about getting gas but I felt so craptastic I decided to just wait until I went to get Daren from work. The gas station is like .7 miles away. No big deal, RIGHT? WRONG!!

Bear and I went to get in the truck a few minutes early tonight and it had a hard time starting. I started to drive and it was chugging along, not very well. I called Daren in somewhat of a panic. He told me to stay calm and that he could come to my rescue. While I was talking to him the truck had a BOOST of energy and starting acting like a real gem. I told him that I thought I was going to make it. He stayed on the phone with me until I got really close to the gas station. He told me to call him back if we had any problems and hung up. The ENTIRE time I was driving there I was PRAYING SO HARD that we would make it. Sure enough, WE DID! OH BLESSED DAY! I was so happy and so was Bear. I think he could tell I was stressed.

I pulled in and of course the gas station was SUPER busy! I started rounding the pumps to pull into one and IT DIES!! COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY DEAD! And!! I was in the most awkward spot too! I didn't know what to do! Oh man I was freaking out inside! On the outside I remained calm and went into the gas station and told the nice people at the cash registers that I was an idiot and ran out of gas IN the gas station parking lot! The lady went to look for the gas can and couldn't find it. I think she felt bad for me because she went and grabbed one off the shelf and told me she would charge it to the store.

ANYWAYS! I went out and started feeling up the gas can, which only held 1 GALLON! I feel up the can, which feels like FOREVER and WAY more than a gallon, and walk back over to the truck. Now I am NOT familiar with how gas cans work and there were several parts that came apart and apparently go back together. I tried. I FAILED! And in the process of failing, I spill gas ALL over my hands! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

SO back in to the gas station I go. I tell the people I'm an idiot TIMES TWO and can't figure out how it works. The guy puts it together while I wash my hands SEVERAL times! He shows me how to use this clip so the gas doesn't spill out. Looks simple enough. I head back out to the truck to put the gas in. I CAN'T GET THE STUPID CAP OFF! I tried for several minutes and NOTHING! I had to ask some random stranger and he popped it off like it was NOTHING! I tried to play it cool and told him that I just loosened it for him. (Ellen anyone?) He didn't get it and just looked at me weird. Alright....

FINALLY! The gas goes in. I get in the truck, turn the key, and it STILL doesn't start. Well it was REALLY low so maybe I need to put more in. One more gallon into the can and one more gallon into the truck. STILL DOESN'T START! At this point I'm starting to freak out a little. Poor Bear doesn't know what the FREAK is going on. I walk over to the pump for ROUND 3. Around the time of round 2 an older lady pulled up and was watching me, kind of awkward, but as I was filling up round 3 she started talking to me and giving me advice on what I should do.

I put the gas in and take the lady's advice, wait for 5 seconds before I really turn the car on, and sure enough IT STARTED! WOOT! WOOT! I was so happy! I hurried and pulled into a stall and filled it up!

What an awful ordeal!! LESSON LEARNED!

On the way to the gas station the Service Engine Soon light came on. I was really worried that I messed something up. Luckily my sweet hubby works at a car dealership so when I got to his work we pulled it in the service drive and scanned it for the codes. LUCKILY it only came on because there was no gas in it. I was SO relieved! I think Daren was too. He was acting calm but inside I think he was quite worried.

The moral of the story is to ALWAYS have gas in your car. Pretty obvious, huh?

On the way home I snapped these pictures with my phone.

I stuck my head out the window to take these.

A few posts ago I mentioned that Bear has learned to look out the window. Here is he playing watch dog. I often wonder how long he looks at the window when we aren't home.
