fetch and furnace

SO! Last night while I was cleaning up dinner, Daren took the garbage out. It stunk REALLY bad. That is besides the point though. It was taking him a lot longer than it should have to come back in. I started to get a little worried, especially since I couldn't hear anything outside. A few minutes later my phone rang, it was Daren. I thought, oh dear something really did happen. Of course I answered it, Daren told me to come outside for a minute. Naturally I went outside and this is what I saw....

Daren and Bear were playing fetch with a TREE BRANCH! Seriously people. A few days ago when it snowed a lot that branch fell off and has been sitting in the corner of our yard since. Bear has tried to attack it several times and even tried to bring it in the house with him...BUT I've never seen him actually MOVE it until tonight! It was so hilarious! Daren would hoist it above his head, like seen in the picture, and throw it, then Bear would DRAG it across the yard back to him. What a special couple they are! I do love both of them!

Today before we went to pick up Daren from work Bear broke a piece of the branch off and wanted to bring it with us. I said N.O.

Anywho! On a not so funny note, our furnace is broke...again. This time it is the blower thing, it just doesn't blow...at all, not even cold air. It's cold in our house. 52 degrees to be exact. The men are downstairs trying to fix it as I type this. I can hear them conversing...although it doesn't sound like it is furnace related. Luckily we are NOT lacking in blankets. We have a plethora, if you will. But I would much rather have heat than need blankets. Maybe I should break out the blow dryer...

Wish us luck!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Our Valentine's weekend was SO great! I loved it! It was spent with family, friends, and of course EACH OTHER!

It all started Friday with a surprise (that I already knew about) trip to Ogden. We went to dinner at Bistro 258 with some of my friends. The guys planned this little surprise dinner for the girls at a romantic restaurant. WAY TO GO MEN! Everyone was dressed up and looked HOT! It was SO fun and the food was DELICIOUS!

I love my Shan!

I started a trend with these boots! I bought them last weekend, showed Shan, she went out and bought a pair the next day, and NOW Cheri and Kari are going to buy a pair! Best $16 EVER!

The whole gang!

After dinner there was one more surprise (which I didn't know about). We went back to Ally and Shad's new house (which is REALLY cute and ideal!) and had FONDUE! YUMMY! Daren told me he needed a bag of marshmallows for Friday and I was so confused as to why he needed them...now it makes sense! We all sat around and talked and laughed! It was so fun!

They had 6 different types of the bubbly!

Aren't they romantic?

Daren and I fondue-ing. Although pretty sure we staged this picture and we aren't really fondue-ing anything. HA! We are hilarious.

We are HOT!

Saturday morning we had orange rolls for breakfast, took the puppy to the park, visited some friends and family, and then came home...to a broken furnace! WHAT THE?! I didn't notice it as first but when I went to out my UGGS by a vent to dry I noticed it was blowing cold air. Daren looked at our thermometer and it said it was 59 degrees in our...it's set for 70. Oh dear...Daren called his dad, his dad came over and didn't know what was wrong so off he went to get Grandpa Don! Grandpa Don can usually fix anything. Well apparently some switch was stuck so it shut everything off so our house wouldn't burn down. They fixed the switch and everything was working again. It's nice to know that if something is wrong with our furnace it will shut everything off, as opposed to our house blowing up.

I LOVE this picture of Daren. Look how happy he is!! I asked him what he wanted for Valentine's Day and he said a giant cookie. SO...I got him a giant cookie! And the other thing is a mirror...sometimes he shaves his face in the shower and he has to use a mirror the size of his palm, for reals, so he can see what he is doing. Well I can't imagine that is convenient...so I got him a bigger mirror that he can hang. I'm a good wife, I know.

HA! We are so mean! We put his toy in the bed of the truck so he would jump up. He whined and cried for a few minutes and then eventually got up the courage to try and he MADE IT! He was quite graceful too...which is so RARE for our dog.

I love my puppy!

I have 3 men in my life that I love more than ANYTHING! Here are 2 of them! The other one is my daddy! And my brothers....so that makes 5 men, including a dog! HA!

We are one big happy family! Bear's face is kind of sad! HA! Poor dog he HATES the camera but I LOVE it! And I always win.

ANYWAYS! By the time the furnace was fixed it was 4:50 and we had movie tickets with Daren's parents to Paul Blart: Mall Cop at 5:00. Since there was no time to take Grandpa Don home we FORCED him to come with us. He was telling us on the way over to the theater that he hadn't been to a movie in like 10 years! I told him it was about time he went then! The movie was SO funny! I love Kevin James though. I think he is HILARIOUS!

After the movie we all parted ways and Daren and I headed home for our Valentine's evening together! We didn't want to go out since there would be ONE MILLION people out in the restaurants. SO! We stayed home and made homemade pizza and watched the new CSI's. It was PERFECT! I seriously wouldn't have wanted it any other way! It was so nice to be home with just the 2 of us...and our puppy of course! I LOVED it!
The dough for the pizza crust was SO sticky! We had to put a ton of flour in it!

Check out that action shot! HOLLA!

Bear REALLY wanted some pizza.

Before

After. It looks a little burnt was it wasn't. It was PERFECT!

We had a GREAT weekend! I love Daren SO much! I can't imagine my life without him! He's a great husband and a great daddy to the puppy! I know he's going to be an AWESOME dad when we have little ones! I feel like every day is Valentine's Day with him! He takes such good care of me! He's an AMAZING cook! He's so funny, he makes me laugh every single day! He works so hard and is an amazing provider! Plus he totally SUPPORTS my shopping habits! He's told me several times that I NEED to have a purse for every season! Isn't he so ideal? He knows me SO well! I love you baby!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to ALL my lovers!

then i would ask how much for a fudge stick

Happy Monday fellow bloggers! I hope everyone had a terrific weekend, Daren and I sure did! I feel like I need a day to recover from it! I'm so exhausted!

We went down to Salt Lake Friday evening and met up with some of my old roommates for dinner at P.F. Changs. I seriously LOVE these girls. They were my first roommates and we have remained really good friends since. Kourt and I lived together every year until she graduated (I was a little slow in graduating...well I guess Lindsey was too since we graduated at the same time!). It was SO good to get together with them and their husbands. We had a great time getting caught up and reminiscing about the past. I can't believe that in August we will have known each other for 7 years! 7! Can you believe that?! I love you guys!

Saturday Daren and I got to sleep in a little...after we got up and ready we went to Kneader's for breakfast and it was SO good! I love that place!

My brother gave me a gift card to Macy's for Christmas so we headed over there to spend it! It's been burning a hole in my wallet since I got it! I found a REALLY cute pair of boots. They were originally like $50. Guess how much I got them for? OH $16! I was so excited. I got a steal on everything I bought! I feel much better now that I have spent the entire gift card. I did have to charge 69 cents to my debit card...kind of embarrassing. Oh well!

After shopping we went to my Grandma's house and helped my mom and my aunt start cleaning it out. A few weeks ago someone broke into and pretty much cleaned it out. It kind of makes me angry. Luckily, she's not living there but most of her stuff was in the house. 40 years of stuff. My poor Grandma. We took a huge load to the D.I. and still haven't even scratched the surface. It's definitely going to take a while to get everything sorts through.

I got my haircut! It was getting long and when this type of haircut gets long...it's ugly! SO! I had the wonderful and amazing Mama Marci fix my head and I LOVE it! I used to hate having short hair but now I love it! It's so easy to do!

Later that night we met up with my BFF's for dinner at 5 Guys, ice cream from Cold Stone, and some HILARIOUS games! I honestly haven't laughed that hard in SO long! I have the BEST and FUNNIEST friends! We were up til 2 am playing. I haven't been up that late since I was in college...it was so worth it though!
Check these out! Remember how I found Tootsie Pop Drops? Well these are the same thing but BLOW POPS! I was really excited about them...until I opened them. Slightly disappointed. You would seriously need to eat the whole bag to have a decent size piece of gum. Oh well, you live and learn.

Shan's tummy. Isn't it cute?! I talked to the baby this weekend. I already know she will LOVE me and probably want to be just like me. We are kindred spirits.

This us at 2 am. Don't we all look lovely? HA!

Sunday morning Daren and I hung around until my family got home from church so we could say good bye. By the time we got home, showered, loved our puppy, and unpacked we had to head to Hyde Park. Daren's cousin got set apart as an Elder and Daren had the opportunity to stand in the circle. It was a really neat experience. I've been to several of these but this one was in the home, which I had never experienced. I thought it was more personal and the spirit was so strong. I'm very grateful for the experience and that we were able to attend.

We had to RUSH home and get dinner started. I told everyone to come at 6, thinking that we could all help cook the food and it would be done fast. since we were having breakfast for dinner. NOPE! We didn't eat until about 7:45. I felt bad making everyone wait that long but the food was really good! I actually thought it was kind of fun having everyone over and helping cook. I just need a bigger kitchen...and more outlets! One day...until then I am very grateful for what we have!

We had a great weekend! My body needs a serious DETOX from all the food we ate! I felt like all we did was eat...at least it was all REALLY good food!

P.S. Daren surprised me with breakfast in bed this morning! What a delightful way to start the week out! Thanks baby! It was PERFECT!

Comfortable?

I found Bear sleeping like this the other day. That arrow is pointing to his LEGS. Do you think he is REALLY comfortable? I can't imagine he is...

Round 2 and the SUPERBOWL!

Long time no blog, yeah?

WELL! Nothing exciting has been happening around our neck of the woods...until this weekend!

Saturday night I decided I want to attempt Round 2 with my bread. It turned out even BETTER than last time! I must be a real pro at this. The inside wasn't doughy at all and it was SO delicious! This time I had my water a little bit warmer and took my time...even more so than the last. My dough actually rose too! Daren and I already ate the first loaf and I'm sure we'll start on the second loaf within the next day or so!

Look! NO DOUGH!

Yesterday we had a Superbowl party at our house! We had a TON of food! Seriously! I thought to myself, "If we put the leaf in our table and put all the food on it, then we'll have plenty of room." NOPE! We had to use the counter too. Our table isn't small. When the leaf is in we can fit 8 people around it...and still be comfortable.

Anyways, we had a great time! And it was such a good game! I was hoping the Cardinals would pull it off. So close...yet so far away. There were also some pretty funny commercials. However, I was somewhat disappointed with half time. I do love me some Bruce but I wish I would have recognized more songs so I could have rocked out with him. Oh well. Of course we watched The Office after and it was HILARIOUS! I love when they are an hour long.

Even Bear got in on the action!

Getting ready for the 3-D commercials!

I taught her how to do this....I'm a good aunt, I know.

On a side note. Didn't Jennifer Hudson do an AMAZING job singing the National Anthem? Holy for reals! It even brought a tear to my eye. I often get emotional when I hear a good version of the National Anthem though. There is something about listening to the National Anthem at a sporting event that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE! I also thought Faith Hill did a good as well...although rumor has it that it was recorded 2 weeks ago and she was lip syncing...

To make a long story short: good time was had by all!
